A secret letter from the Queen of Britain will not be opened until 2085
Britain’s late queen, Elizabeth II, wrote a “secret” letter to the Australian citizens of Sydney and hid it inside one of the city’s most famous buildings, but it won’t read until 63 years later.
Britain’s Daily Mail reported that Queen Victoria’s building in Sydney’s business district contained a confidential letter from Elizabeth II, adding that “there are strict instructions not to open it until 2085.”
The Queen drafted the letter after the main restoration work of the building in November 1986, and not even her personal staff knows what she wrote.
The letter was framed inside a glass case, from which only the Queen’s instructions appeared.
The instructions read: “To the Mayor of Sydney, Australia. Open this envelope on a suitable day of your choice in 2085, and convey my message to the citizens of Sydney.”
The death of Queen Elizabeth, 96, on Thursday sparked deep sorrow and warm praise from around the world after she spent 70 years on the throne.
